Mastering the ramp

 

Lookie lookie, I did it!

Mr. Bogie is feeling real proud of himself. At our Lowrider meet up last night he learned to go up and down a ramp!

I have tried several times to get him to do this without any success. How did I change his mind? I coaxed him with small pieces of bait and he slowly went up it. Coming down was a little scary for him as it requires careful footing, but he managed it just fine. And, he got a lot of praise and encouragement from Mom!

Then, much to my surprise, he wanted to do it again and again and again! Yay Bogie!

Steady there, I got this!

The Dog-gone Truth

 

In the winter of '21

Hey everyone! We’ve got white powdery all overs our yard. Mom says it’s called snow. I’ve been checking it out real closely to figure it out.

It’s deeper than my legs and so much fun’s to runs through! Mom wanted me to pose for a picture so I rolled around in it to make myselfs handsome!

Walking in the rain

Yes, this big boy that I love and adore is wet. We had walked about .5 mile down the River Walk this morning when the sky opened up! I had an umbrella in my backpack, so I pulled it out, and we turned around. All was well, so I thought.

I pulled Bogie close to me so he was under the umbrella, but no sirreee he wasn't happy at all! He was scared and totally unhappy. I was surprised because he never minds the rain at home and will go out in it an explore the yard with out any concern.

So.....I walked back to the car holding a wet 16+ pound dog under my left arm and the umbrella in my right while the rain was coming down very nicely!

Just a little workout for me, but it wasn't too bad either. I enjoyed the rainy walk as we certainly need the rain and Bogie gave me sweet kisses 💞🥰💞 every time I looked at him! Can't get any better than that!

The Classic Dachshund

The Dachshund was originally published in 1927 with 1,000 copies printed.  The author revised and republished several times - this copy is the 1955 edition that had a printing of five thousand copies that sold at a price of $3.50.  I found it on Ebay and was pleased that it is in remarkably good condition. Grayce Greenburg was a renowned breeder of many champions and a dog show judge with much insight on the breed.

This book is a treasure house of dachshund information including a history of the breed based on information available at the time of printing and includes numerous pictures of early dachshunds. Where did the modern version of these loveable little short-legged long-bodies originate?  It isn't clear, but based on the author's research probably in France, possibly from the crossing of the Dandie Dinmont terrier and the Basset-Griffon.  She also acknowledges the possibility that the Basset Hound played a role in the breed's refinement. Knowing that it is easy to see why some doxies have the hound type muzzle and others have more of a terrier type.  It was all done for breeding a better hunting dog and we see those desired traits today - short legs for burrowing, tenacious personalities, and proficient barkers!

The Answer is No

So let me gets this straight.  You want mees to get up off this nice comfy sofa and leave my blanket and goes outside?  What makes you think Bree-Bree wants to do that? No, I haven'ts been sleeping here too long, that's just what you think.  Bree-Bree needs her sleep and is not going outside now. No. No. No.

The day after Christmas

Are you telling mees the truth? Christmas is over? No, that can't bees. It was the bestest ever...oh wait, this was only my seconds Christmas. Ok Mama, so how many days until it comes agains?

Trying to make Christmas pictures with kids or dogs is always an adventure.  If Blossom was a chipmunk her name would be....Alvin!

That's My Dog!

Yes, that's my boy Bentley.  Needs a bath,  ungroomed and on lizard patrol.  I was playing around with the camera and he was a willing subject to use for focusing.  And, yes those are crate pads hanging on the deck rail to finish drying - they're a part of my patio decor!

Favorite toy

Sawyer, Bentley and Bentley's beloved Foxie taking a nap.  Bentley loves this ratty toy, sleeping with it and sometimes taking it outside.  And, sometimes Foxie has to go into the washing machine for a bath!

Christmas 2016

Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas!

How I shop

 

Let me explain.  I am a minimalist with my outside Christmas decorations.  A few lights and a small tree on my front porch, Christmas mail box cover and a wreath on the door.  That's it.  No flashing lights, no tacky yard art, no music, no flood lights or rotating shapes on the house. 

 

So what did I buy today (Black Friday) at Walmart?  Dachshund yard art with lights!  How could I resist - he looks like Bentley and it was only $20! Will it go outside or inside - that is an unanswered question for now.
